53 Sofa

During the 1950s, Juhl designed a series of furniture for the company Bovirke. This series is characterized by a streamlined, industrial style, that is easily recognizable by its slender, almost invisible legs in stained steel, as well as the use of wood and color with Finn Juhl’s trademark sense of detail.

About the 53 Sofa

The 53 Sofa is a very “compact” sofa with generous springiness in the otherwise firmly upholstered seat. The back cushions are loose and the fabric is hand-upholstered wool fabric.

Juhl himself used this sofa in his showroom apartment in the Bellahøj high-rise building complex as well as in many of the 33 SAS terminals he designed between 1957 and 1961.
