The Circle Rug | Finn Juhl | 1963
In 1963, Finn Juhl designed a series of characteristic circular patterns for the Danish carpet manufacturer, Wittrup. The simple circular pattern is enhanced by a striking use of colour, creating a unique design that embodies the trends and vibrancy of the era of the 'Swinging Sixties'. The rugs are produced in two sizes and come in four different colour combinations: 'Grey/Black', 'Orange/Green', 'Blue/Navy' and 'Beige/Nature'. The carpets are hand-tufted in a wonderfully dense 100% looped wool.

A Timeless Geometric Rug Design
In 1963, Finn Juhl designed a series of characteristic circular patterns for the Danish company Wittrup Tæpper (Wittrup Rugs). However, the rugs did not make it into production at the time. With an ambition to offer a complete range of Finn Juhl designs, House of Finn Juhl revived the patterns and relaunched the rugs in 2015. A timeless geometric design, the rug is perfect for positioning beside a sofa, lounge chair or beneath a large table, adding an eye-catching layer of texture, colour and depth to a room.
Guiding the Mind Towards the Swinging Sixties
In Finn Juhl’s original drawings of the circular patterns show different colour combinations - some are calm and neutral in their expression, while others are extremely colorful and striking, creating a unique design that embodies the trends and vibrancy of the era of the ‘Swining Sixties’. The trend was later embraced by designers such as Verner Panton.
