The Design Destination
On a cobbled street in the historic center of Copenhagen, discreetly tucked away on the second floor of a building dating back to 1730, you’ll find The Darling – a unique and exclusive boutique hotel filled with the very best of Danish design and contemporary art.
The Darling consists of three sophisticated suites, or residences – The Cosy, The Classic, and The Grand – measuring 50, 70, and 100 square meters respectively. Each residence (because that’s exactly what it feels like – a private home rather than a hotel suite) features a bedroom, living room, kitchen, and bathroom. The Classic and The Grand also include a study, while The Grand boasts an inviting dining room.
All three suites are furnished with iconic designs by Finn Juhl, offering a timeless contrast to the rotating selection of contemporary artworks. Guests can lounge in the Pelican Chair and Poet Sofa, work at the Nyhavn Desk, and take in the view of the Church of the Holy Spirit and the old linden trees. In The Cosy – the latest addition – the living room is also outfitted with Finn Juhl’s Panel System from 1953, crafted in oak.
Several design elements have been created especially for The Darling, including wall colors, wallpapers, towels, soaps, and sleep masks. The artworks are handpicked from Danish galleries and artists, changing from month to month – and every piece is for sale.
Behind The Darling are Uffe Buchard and Jens Løkke, founders of the branding agency Darling Creative Studio. Their dream was to create a warm, intimate space where design and art come together in a greater whole – a place to live in, experience, and fall in love with.
Even the most discerning aesthete will feel at home here – and may be tempted to take a piece of The Darling with them.
