In 1910, Christian Krogh saw the potential of this historic location and, with the help of some of the finest artists and architects of the time, opened a sophisticated restaurant where gastronomy, architecture and art came together in perfect harmony. From the very beginning, his ambitions extended beyond the culinary. Over more than 115 years, the restaurant has evolved with the times – from a popular fish eatery to a cherished meeting place for artists, businesspeople, royalty and Copenhageners with an appreciation for quality. Along the way, countless stories and anecdotes have become part of the restaurant’s identity.
In 2026, a new chapter began with an extensive renovation, bringing new life to the premises at Gammel Strand while showing the utmost respect for the original architectural features and details that give the restaurant its distinctive character. Materials, lighting and interiors have been carefully considered with the same attention to detail, creating an atmosphere that feels both timeless and vibrant.
The same respect for tradition defines the kitchen.
