While animal-derived materials offer a number of environmental benefits, their production also presents challenges, including greenhouse gas emissions, impacts on biodiversity, and the need to ensure responsible treatment of animals.
We work closely with carefully selected suppliers who share our values and can document high standards for animal welfare, environmental responsibility, and supply chain transparency. We prioritize certified materials wherever possible and continuously work to improve traceability throughout our value chain.
Our primary animal-derived materials are leather and wool from farmed animals. We require our suppliers to comply with internationally recognized standards for animal welfare and responsible practices, and we support initiatives that promote continuous improvements across the industry.
Leather is made from hides that are a natural by-product of the meat and dairy industries. This means that no animal is raised or slaughtered for the purpose of producing leather. By processing and transforming these raw hides into leather, we make use of an existing resource that would otherwise go to waste. The material therefore contributes to a more circular value chain through reuse and efficient resource utilization.
We do not use materials from wild or endangered animals. This means that we do not use skins, hides, or fibers from wild-caught animals or from species classified as endangered or vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), or species covered by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
For our wooden furniture, we use exclusively FSC-, PEFC-, or AHEC-certified wood. We are committed to using the most environmentally responsible materials and processing methods available, without compromising our design heritage, product quality, or craftsmanship.
Throughout both the design and procurement processes, we maintain a continuous focus on durability, recyclability, and reuse. Our ambition is to reduce our use of virgin raw materials in our products year after year.
