Restaurant Frederikshøj
Just a stone’s throw from the center of Aarhus, discreetly nestled between forest and coast, lies Restaurant Frederikshøj – a gastronomic powerhouse and one of Denmark’s most acclaimed dining destinations. Since 2017, Michelin-starred chef Wassim Hallal has led the kitchen with a steady hand and a personal vision. In the Michelin Nordic Guide 2024, the restaurant was once again awarded two stars.
Frederikshøj recently reopened after a comprehensive transformation, with the interior completely reimagined from the ground up. The design is dark and atmospheric, featuring iconic design classics and expressive paintings by Michael Kvium. Among the highlights is Finn Juhl’s FJ 51 – also known as the Delegate's Chair – in black-oiled walnut, custom-made specifically for Frederikshøj. Originally designed for the Trusteeship Council Chamber at the UN Headquarters in New York in 1951, the chair was relaunched in 2013 in connection with the chamber's renovation. Today, it is not part of the permanent collection but is produced for special projects only.

The exclusive interior also features the Chieftain Chair and the Silver Table – all carefully selected to complement the dark tones and create a cohesive aesthetic. Large windows open the space to the soft, green hills and Aarhus Bay, while the balanced lighting and thick, sound-absorbing carpets add an almost meditative depth.
Frederikshøj is a place without haste and without dogma – a journey of interpretation, refinement, and seduction. Here, technical mastery and personal intuition meet in an uncompromising tribute to seasonal ingredients, where both guests and produce are treated with the same respectful attention.
