Material Certifications & Standards

Our commitment to quality guides every step of our production process, emphasizing responsible sourcing and durability. Each piece of furniture is carefully crafted and constructed using high-quality materials, ensuring it stands the test of time and can be enjoyed for generations. Additionally, every piece is made to order, allowing you to customize your personal Finn Juhl furniture. WOOD | FSC & PEFC

PEFC and FSC are international nonprofit organizations and certification systems, focusing on responsible forest management to guarantee sustainable practices and the traceability of wood products from well-managed forests, while emphasizing social and environmental considerations.

In our production, we exclusively use oak and ash wood sourced from Europe, all of which is certified by either FSC or PEFC.

WOOD | AHEC

The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) is an international trade association that promotes the use of American hardwood and supports the responsible and sustainable management of forests. AHEC places great emphasis on educating manufacturers, architects, and consumers about the environmental benefits of American hardwood, using data and life cycle assessments.

In our production, we exclusively use American walnut sourced through suppliers that collaborate with AHEC.

MATERIALS | EU ECOLABEL

The EU Ecolabel, established by the European Commission, is an independent certification that promotes environmental excellence, offering consumers eco-friendly alternatives by ensuring products meet stringent environmental standards throughout their entire lifecycle, including reduced use of harmful substances, pollution reduction, and enhanced durability.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is a label for textiles that have been tested for harmful substances. It sets the standard for textile safety, covering every stage from the yarn to the finished product. Every textile bearing the STANDARD 100 label is certified as having passed safety tests for the presence of harmful substances.

LEATHER | BLAUER ENGEL

The Blauer Engel certification is a renowned environmental ecolabel initiated by the German federal government over 45 years ago. It is awarded to non-food products or materials that meet stringent environmental and sustainability criteria.

LEATHER | ANIMAL PROTECTION DENMARK

Vita is a soft aniline leather certified by Animal Protection Denmark and produced from the finest rawhides from North Jutland in Denmark. All hides come from farmers who comply with the detailed requirements of the label “Approved by Animal Protection Denmark.”. The label has a strong focus on animal welfare, including animal health and feed, environmental measures, security, and quality.

LEATHER | LCA

A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a method used to evaluate the environmental impact of a product throughout its entire life cycle. While LCAs can be applied to many types of products, regarding leather, this involves assessing the impact from farm level to the finished leather. The process covers factors like methane emissions, energy use, processing, transportation, and more.
