A Glimpse into the Craftsmanship at The Workshop
During 3daysofdesign, the historic lithographic workshop Edition Copenhagen on Christianshavn was transformed into a living furniture workshop, where upholstery, assembly, and finishing processes unfolded before the eyes of visitors. Guests were given a unique insight into the complex and highly skilled craftsmanship behind every Finn Juhl piece.
Spotlight on Danish Furniture Production
House of Finn Juhl's production facilities are based in Ringkøbing and Vejen, where experienced cabinetmakers and upholsterers craft each piece with great respect for the original traditions of furniture making. To give a wider audience the opportunity to experience this part of the production process firsthand, a small section of the workshop was relocated to Edition Copenhagen during 3daysofdesign.
Here, visitors were able to observe the processes that usually take place behind the scenes: hand upholstery using a curved needle, precise assembly, and the meticulous finishing carried out by highly skilled craftspeople. The collaboration between the two workshops is rooted in a shared appreciation for craftsmanship and traditional techniques that have been refined over decades.
At a time when much furniture production has moved abroad, we want to highlight Danish furniture manufacturing and the living craft traditions that remain an essential part of the quality, authenticity, and character of each piece.
